    pre op stress!!!

ok,so i have been on here awhile but not really had much reply in posts... hence i not been on for awhile.. well that and the fact i am trying not to think about the op.

i really would like to chat with anyone who has/having the op.. i have looked all over on google for a forum ect where i can talk to some one who is in the same boat, i do not use face book so please do not say there is a group on there and i do not use it.(as i have been told so before)

i am so freaking out so much that some times feel i will pass out with the worry.. NOT having the op is not an option... without it i would give up on life as depression looking like a freak is really gettin me down.

any tips or just chat re op would be great..

    thanks for reading

    xx

Hey - I am not having an op but I'm panicking about my four extractions so I can only imagine how you're feeling. What is it that is scaring you so much?

    thank you for reply.

my freaking out starts when i think about sitting on that hospital bed awaiting my op.. i need to control how i feel before i go in or they may refuse to even do it it i am 'time wasting' cus im a nervous wreck.. or i may even pass out,i have never had an op before .. and a jaw op is a massive procedure..
i am worried that it will be painful as hell... i worry i may get infection .. i worry if i wake up before they finish like in that film ''awake'' omg has anyone seen that film... wish i never did.. well the worry list just goes on..

    xx

Hey I'm having surgery next thursday, so I know EXACTLY how you are feeling. I HAVE to hav this op as I can't stand having no bite! The summer so far seems to be building up to it, and I can't see far past it!

It won't be painful, they will dose us up on pain relief after so we can't feel a thing! And if you're in pain, you can just tell a nurse or whoever and they'll help.

I'm keeping a blog on here, so you could have a look at that before and after I go in to see if it helps you...

I'm hoping I may not have to spend the night there after all - I had an appointment with my surgeon on Friday, to try out my wafers and stuff and he said I should be able to roll on in on the day because he's seen me the week before. Depends on what the hospital says... I'd be far better off in my own bed the night before!!!

This may sound odd - but is your op at Poole hospital? Mine is. Just asking cos your profile says you live in Bournemouth... and your op has been delayed, just like mine...

Spooky if it is - who's your surgeon?

Yeah its still on Thursday. It was meant to be on the 21st July originally, but never mind, it's happening either way . The surgeons at Poole have a good reputation so I guess you're near enough to take advantage of that.

I'm feeling a bit less nervous than you cos I've had surgery before (only on one jaw and back before I got braces) but of course this is more extreme.

so are you going in on thursday or have you got to go in wednesday night before op?

how come they having to do op a 2nd time? could they not have done both jaws at the same time?

i am having both done at same time. The only worry they have is not finding a bone in my mouth to use to bring my teeth down.. if they cant find a bone to use they will take one from my hip ...

tbh, i dont understand it all... and i watched the actual op on utube ( didnt help at all) lol.. well freaked me out

Well I had the first op to widen my upper jaw. It was MEGA narrow, and almost came to a point! This second one is to actually move the jaws. I got a phone call today, I go in on Thursday, yay!

i was just told that my surgery is in 6 months. i am getting my upper jaw widened and my lower widened and moved forward. i am very nervous that i won't be able to feel anything. like my tongue or lips or chin. like what if i bite my tongue off? i would never know!! freaks me out! other than that i ain't worried at all by the surgery. my ortho said i won't need rubberbands at all cause the surgery is going to fix everything like that. i have always wished for straight teeth, and i am so happy that i am so close to it!! i just turned 26 yesterday and the ortho said i will have the braces off in 16 months!

I have to be there at 7:15 tomorrow morning sarah - ouch! I don't have a job at the moment, so there was no need to negotiate that. Mr Ramchandani says I'll probably go home on Saturday, but it depends how well I recover I guess...

I doubt you could bite your tongue off JSET - after surgery like that you shouldn't have to bite anything, cos you'll be on a puréed diet! Also, why would your tongue be numb, they aren't doing anything to it so it should be okay!

Edit: I won't be on here again before my op so and I'll be back

i am having my surgery next fri. i too am having jitters before the op, this will be my last weekend before i come back with a new jaw so i need to pig out. i need to also finish getting supplies to prepare for this hardcore journey. have my 2nd pre-op this fri. where i'll find out more about my surgery but the preliminary plan is a le fort I/BSSO/possible genio advancement. here is my blog in case any one is interested, will probably make a vid along with before pics and after when i dont look too beat up. Jazzy Jaw Surgery Journey lots of thoughts are running through my head and i'm getting butterflies in my stomach everytime i think about the op but i know this will be for the better! i hope i dont cry at the hospital, this will be my first major surgery so i dont know how i'll handle it =( hope i dont back out the last minute, i am pretty chicken but this is definitely something i really need to do for myself!
good luck to everyone who's having surgery for a smooth sailing one and a swift recovery! good luck to you hcz! you'll do great!
