    Wisdom Teeth

I have a question if anyone can answer it for me. My wisdom teeth haven’t come in yet and I am 26 years old. I am wondering if this will be an issue when I get my braces put on. I was just wondering if anyone else has been in the same situation.

It’s not mandatory that everybody should get wisdom teeth. Few people don’t get wisdom teeth through out their lifetime. But I had a problem with my wisdom teeth both my wisdom teeth have grown under the gum horizontally, which have to be removed by surgery. So I got them removed before going for braces. So better take X-ray of your entire teeth before going for braces. Good Luck

I wish I had never gotten my wisdom teeth in. It was so painful for me. I had to get them removed and I was so happy. It was causing crowding in my mouth and it felt like I had constant pressure on my other teeth.

Oh I wish that I would have never gotten my wisdom teeth, it was very painful and I had to have them removed and that was even more painful than getting them in.

Why are they called wisdom teeth :?: Ouch they are so painful, I got two of them removed and it took me almost a month to recover from that pain. I didn’t go out of home for like three days due to the swelling of my face.

It's true that not everyone gets wisdom teeth. Of course, yours could be lying dormant simply because they don't have the room to grow in. An x-ray will answer that question and your ortho surgeon will likely do a million x-rays and will be able to answer your questions.

Yes, x-rays will show whether you have wisdom teeth under the surface. I had mine removed surgically years ago when I was a teenager. Mine didn't have room to grow in at all and had to be removed from the subsurface before they completely knocked ALL of my teeth out of whack!

I just had my 2 bottom wisdom teeth removed yesterday. It amazed me how easy it was! The pain didn't start until the novacaine wore off of course. But today it hasn't been bad at all. My dentist told me my top ones won't ever come in, hopefully when I go to my consultation with a orth they will tell me I don't need to get them removed. (crossing fingers) By the way my bottom ones we're trying to come up, you could just see the top of each tooth.

I had all 4 of mine yanked at once! It was worth it this way you dont have to worry about them moving your teeth after you get your braces off...

What does that mean when you have your upper arch bonded? Is it the same as a palate expansion?

    surgery after braces?

hello i am new to this board. I just had braces put on tuesday, and just found out that the ortho wants me to have a root canal on one of my molars. well i am paying cash for braces and the girl that did my consultation told me not to worry about insurance because i won't need it and now i find this about 5 mins after them putting these on.

has anyone ever dealt with this and what do you suggest. also where do bands go?

Mariah there's no 'usual' time, and more and more dentists are working to keep our third molars, if there's space and your oral hygiene is good.

If you're concerned about any future impact of your wisdom teeth on your current orthodontic treatment, discuss this with your orthodontist.
After 5 years, 11 months and two days of stainless steel brackets ... my teeth now have upper and lower bonded, gold wire, retainers and removable clear retainers!
