    Question confused?

i've had braces before, for a year and 3 monthes, i took them off because i kept breaking them. i honestly dont know if its my fault they keep breaking or if the glue isnt strong enough because, one time, i was eating noodles and one broke? anyways, so i got invisalign instead, buht stuborn as i am, i didnt wear them, because they hurt and if i know i cant take it off, them i would, and so i did. now, one month later, i decided invisalign isnt for me, and i was hoping to get regular braces again. buht i wanted to get the ceramic one because i have a temporary root cannel on one of my front teeth, so my ortho wont put a bracet on it. and it looked weird before when i had the metal ones. so, i was going to see my ortho about getting the ceramic, buht i hear the ceramic brackets were very hard and depending on your bite it might chip your tooth if you put it on the bottem, i have an overbite and i was thinking, cant i just get the clear ceramic on both top and bottem and then have them put the rubber bands on so my top teeth wont hit my bottem ones ? im still thinking whether i should get them or not. any suggestions ?

    Hi Jaaade

Sounds like you need to wait till you're able to commit to the discipline of orthodontic treatment, because it's not good to be moving your teeth on and off, like you've been doing.

Ceramic brackets are fine with any kind of bite. They are hard, but an orthodontist should make sure your bite doesn't come into contact with them, just as they'd do with the metal brackets. This can be done in several ways, which include putting 'molar buildup' on two of your molars, so that your bite cannot close totally. Also many ortho's will not put ceramic brackets on the lower teeth, if there's a risk of the upper teeth coming into contact with the lower brackets. You need to talk to your ortho, to see what type of treatment they prefer for people with overbites.

Elastics on there own, will not necessary correct your overbite and prevent your upper teeth touching your lower ones. There's much more to the process of moving teeth than this. Please discuss this with your orthodontist also.

Good luck, and waiting, may be worth considering. Good luck!
After 5 years, 11 months and two days of stainless steel brackets ... my teeth now have upper and lower bonded, gold wire, retainers and removable clear retainers!

i dont mind having braces or anything its just, i dont think the invisalign is right for me. oh. and my ortho gave me the molier buildup before when i had metal ones, and it came off? will it happen again ? so, if my ortho wont put it on the bottom, will they put ceramic on top and metal on bottom? is that even possible?

Jaade you need to be asking these questions of the ortho's you consult with.

Ceramic on top and metal on the lowers is the preferred combination for many ortho's.

    Good luck!
