New, Considering, In Need of Feedback! =)

    Hi, My name is Jessica
I just posted an introduction on that forum.
I am considering iBraces @ 20 years old.
    My main questions are:
-(I see postings of) ceramic, lingual, braces-what are the differences?
-any information, from those who have on the iBraces, especially
-or from anyone who knows about this procedure
-Are there any other types of dental procedures that work
    -the length of time

Don't care about the whole speech thing too much, that's the least of my concerns.
Want to stay as far away from traditional metal braces AS POSSIBLE
(Invisalign is out of the question for me)

    Thank you all so much!

Thinking of posting a blog, so please check up on that!
    =)

I replied to your introduction on my .02 on ibraces.

If you want a clear form of braces and are not a candidate of Invsialign, than I would get clear ceramic braces on top and bottom.

These are far from the metal braces look that most are scared of, but still get the job done right..

What is you situation? crowding, bite issue, spacing, etc??

Have you had a consult yet?

iBraces (and all lingual braces) go on the back of the teeth. Ceramic braces are just clear brackets that go on teh front of the teeth.

One caveat to Mike's advice: ceramics are extremely hard - harder than tooth enamel - and for this reason, some orthodontists will not put them on the bottom teeth, as there could otherwise be a serious risk of chipping the upper front teeth.

Trust me - even metal braces are not a big deal. I had ceramic uppers, metal lowers, and some people I worked with did not even notice my braces for many months.

I just posted an overview of ibraces procedure in the ibraces forum. look up ibraces procedure.

I considered invisalign as my first choice but after consulting two different invisalign certified dentist none of them recommended it for me because i have two teeth rotated. One orthodontist told me that she never felt invisalign finishes a case well. She doesn't feel as satisfied with invisalign as traditional metal braces.

I put on ibraces yesterday. can't really see the braces when I smile but if someone stands real close to me and I talk a lot , it's not hard to notice some shinny metal behind my teeth.

You should also ask your orthodontist how experience he/she is with either any type of braces. I forgot about asking that and turns out I am one of my orthodontist's first case. She was supervised with a ibraces consultant so the braces was put on properly and made me feel confident that they knew what they were doing.

There are many options these days...when I had my braces done, I didn't have any choice. (was it because of the lack of choices, or my mom just wanted the cheapest ones? not really sure now...haha. Well, at least it got the job done)
