Hi there.... I have been doing a lot of research on invisalign and ibraces and am leaning towards ibraces. However, i was wondering if it is common to have to wear elastics on the front side of your teeth? That would pretty much defeat the purpose of choosing ibraces for discretion. Has anyone had any experience with ibraces-elastics??
Thanks for your help!![]()
I've not had personal experience with ibraces, but we have clients at work who are treated with them and many wear elastics without any concerns for the appearance. I think this is for a couple of reasons. The main one is that they're mostly used to having braces by the time elastics are introduced and have seen their teeth improving, so adding something that may occasionally be noticable doesn't seem an issue and secondly, most want to have their bite/teeth improved and accept it's not going to happen without elastics ... and they soon realise that most people will never notice they have elastics ... and for those who do ... well it might remain a mystery as to why.
After 5 years, 11 months and two days of stainless steel brackets ... my teeth now have upper and lower bonded, gold wire, retainers and removable clear retainers!
I have had ibraces since 2007. I do have elastics and people can see them and some wonder what they are. Most people will know you have something in your mouth when you talk and have a lisp which is not all of the time but a lot of the time. The two braces are very different as I could not have invisiline they were not strong enough for me. I have had a couple of friends with invisalign as they dealt with it much better than I am dealing with the ibrace. One friend I didn't know he had it.
