I accidentally swallowed a bracket...
What should I do? Will the ortho re-order another one? Will this delay treatment time?
Has this happened to anyone before?
Hi Billy
Give your ortho a call and he'll decide when you need to come in to have a new bracket bonded.
I swallowed a buccal molar bracket in my sleep one night ... never saw it again, which is probably a good thing. My ortho put another one on a couple of months later with no negative affect on my treatment. Sometimes a front bracket may need to be replaced more quickly than that, but your ortho will tell you if you need to come in before your next appointment.
I now work for my ortho and we don't replace a bracket until the next appointment, unless the patient is getting ready for surgery.
Good luck with your treatment!![]()
After 5 years, 11 months and two days of stainless steel brackets ... my teeth now have upper and lower bonded, gold wire, retainers and removable clear retainers!
