I had Incognito braces put on my uppers just under 2 weeks ago and my lisp is extremely noticeable and I'm feeling very self conscious about it.
I've had ceramics on my lowers for around 7 months and those are fine. But I'm wondering if my lisp will ever get any better? It's a bit disheartening since I do a lot of public speaking at work!
It feels like it also gets worse when I'm frustrated / trying to speak louder. Anyone else feel the same? Is it going to get better??! I'm constantly talking but I've not yet found a way to make my words "s" sound normalMy mouth feels really clogged up!
I've not had linguals brackets, but my experience from those we work with, who do, is that their speech does get better. Most report that it seems worse when they're tired, frustrated, trying too hard etc.
Good luck with your adjusting. Two weeks is still a short period of time when you're adjusting to linguals. Hopefully within the next couple of weeks you'll notice a big change!![]()
After 5 years, 11 months and two days of stainless steel brackets ... my teeth now have upper and lower bonded, gold wire, retainers and removable clear retainers!
I just had ibraces put on yesterday and I'm completely frustrated about the lisp I now have. I know its only been a day but I'm completely ready for it to fade. I fear that it won't and my self conscious will get the best of me. I've read to practice speaking and sing out loud to help this... We shall see.. Any positive stories would be wonderful : )
Wallflower - its been a few months, has your lisp improved?
Hi jmp, it's only been 3 weeks since I had my Incognito's put in.
My lisp hasn't improved, I'm only more used to it.
