Hi there,
I'm just after some feedback from people wearing lingual braces.
I've had upper lingual braces on for 4 weeks. The pain has almost completely gone, my speech is good and eating is not really a problem at all either. I am very happy with the upper lingual braces.
Can anyone tell me what their experience is with lower lingual braces vs ceramic braces? I'm still thinking about which way to go but the orthodontist has encouraged me to go for the ceramic braces. I'm a bit concerned about the visibility of these.
Thanks
I had the choice of going lingual on the bottom, but went with ceramics due to the cost factor. Yes, people did notice them, but only when they were very close to me. A metal wire doesn't help either. And when I started wearing elastics, well, the game was up.The novelty factor soon wore off with others, though, and by the time I was finishing up treatment, I was dressing the ceramics up in coloured ligs. Weird? Maybe.
It's your choice, really: do what you feel is right for you and it will work.
I have linguals on upper and went with ceramics on my lowers because of cost. I got my ceramics on first so got used to them quickly. I found it harder adjusting to the linguals because I had issues with my speech being affected.
The cost wasn't a huge issue, but the fact that my lower teeth barely showed anyway meant a lot! I've had them in for a year and nobody knows I've got braces - unless I've told them, then they're always surprised.
