I went to an onthrodontist today, and he told me that i can go for lingual braces for my top teeth and ceramic on the bottom. The cost is alot of money $8600 canadian. Can someone tell me if this is expensive, i thought normally it would only go up $6,000 -$7000. I have complex teeth, doyou think this is because of that.
Please let me know if i should go to another othrodontist.thank you!
that seems pretty high.. get another price from 1 other orthodonitst...
Thanks for the reply stephanie, I believe it cost alot because i have a complex teeth, and its very hard to do the lingual braces. Ive been shopping around, not a lot of othrodontist here in toronto can do them.
Do you know how to get an insurance plan. I heard something about POP or HMO? do you know what that is?
hmo and ppo differ mainly in PPO you get to choose your orthodonist, where in HMO, you have a certain list of orthos you can choose from that are covered.
Good luck
I would also check out the university nearest you, many of them have dental programs for students and will do the same procedures for pennies on the dollar, they are done by students, but the students are trained and watched by instructors. I dont know how most dentist work with patients, I know my dentist has a plan where you get a credit check and then do financing.
Dental schools, university and the like rarely allow any choice in the product used on a persons teeth. If the person wants a discrete option, they need to find a good orthodontist, a person they can communicate with and feel confident with. Then talk to this person about how your account can be paid for. Penny pinching in an area such as orthodontics may be a false economy, so please be careful.
I paid a deposit and the remainder off over two years and this was a very painless way to get great care.
After 5 years, 11 months and two days of stainless steel brackets ... my teeth now have upper and lower bonded, gold wire, retainers and removable clear retainers!
