Talking just got my invisaligns

So I am 5 days now with my invisaligns. I have top and bottom trays. I was a little upset that I needed bottom trays but in the end it was going to cost me the same $$$ whether I have them or not.

OK all I can say is eating is a challenge the first 2-3 days. I think because of the buttons that are attached to your teeth and where your bite comes down you are sub-consciously afraid of biting the buttons. So instead you take chunks of your cheek out - OUCH!!

Also the skin behind my front teeth I think is swollen from the pressure of the top tray. Everytime I put the tray in it takes a few seconds for the pain to subside in that area.

It is getting easier though. The trays certainly do not bother me at all and to be honest since I have these buttons on my teeth I'd rather have the trays in than out because the buttons do feel wierd against your cheeks.

I am in for a year on the top and 62 weeks on the bottom. Its seems like a long time but it really is one year of my life (37 now) sooo if I live to 80 it will be worth it.

Great you early days with invisalign are going so well Skoa!

Here's to you seeing progress soon.

If your mouth is feeling a little sore, a warm salt water rinse will soothe and heal. Make the rinse, by using a pinch of salt (about a 1/4 tsp) in a small amount of warm tap water (about 1/4 cup). Swirl the rinse round your mouth, gargle, spit and repeat. While your mouth is sore, repeat this as many times as you can throughout the day.

Good luck!

Thanks Sunny for tip - I will give that a go and see how it works. I just want to get the skin behind my teeth to heal up before my next set of trays.

All in all I am pretty happy with them. I need to take a little more time to think things out before/after I eat but otherwise all is good

Hi Skoa! How are your experiences with invisilign now? I am thinking of getting them and I have an appointment on the 7th of april to see what is possible. Did You have a lot of trouble getting used to them and to speak with them. On my work I talk to a lot of clients in person and on the phone and I am concerned if they can see and hear I am wearing invisilign. Will you tell me about your experience? Thanks!

So far

Well all I can say is that I have been wearing my Invisaligns for close to 5 months now. I can definately feel a difference and see improvements. People at work have no idea I have them even though I may lisp a little toward the end of the 2 week time period (they get loose after a week or so).
I have gone on several business trips and was able to work around them (business dinners, meetings, plane flights...etc).

I treat them like my American Express card where I never leave home without them. I also have no problems playing soccer or hockey with them in. They do flutter a little in my mouth if I yell for the ball or puck (especially toward the end of the 2 week change period) but nothing that is noticeable by others.

For me my dentist has to notch a "V" behind my 2 front teeth area because my invisaligns were digging into my roof of my mouth causing lots of pain and swelling but since doing that everything has been a piece of cake.

All in all my experience so far is all positive

Glad your doc was able to deal with that particular comfort issue - it can't have been good for your gums being traumatised like that! Good for you for speaking up about it. And nice to hear your treatment is going well.

Fantastic to read that your treatment is going so well Skoa!

You appear to have a great attitude to your invisalign treatment and it's great that you can enjoy your sport without any issues.

Here's to your progress continuing to go well!
