3 days to b-day

hi everybody,
after many months hesitating i finally decided to start the orthodontic treatment. at the age of 10 i had removable braces, but my teeth (especially the bottom teeth) never had enough space so they decided to get crowded later. i am already 35 years old what makes the decision for wearing braces not easier (most of the other patients at my orthos office could be my children!). i had to say "good bye" to my wisdom teeths the past weeks, in 3 days my treatment starts - i am already feeling some pressure in my mouth because of the spacers i got 2 days ago.
cu,
brace

Hi and welcome Brace.

Great you've made the decision to have a second round of orthodontic treatment. I was 47 when I began my first round and it's been incredibly easy, so hope your's is the same.

All the best for your your b-day!

Welcome and good luck! You will soon see that the spacers are the worst part and that braces treatment becomes cake soon enough.

Good to get the wisdom teeth out first.. never know how they can shift things around post braces treatment.

Keep us posted and dont forget to start you blog.. we'd love to hear the progress from day 1!

It used to be held that the wisdom teeth were the reason for orthodontic relapse, but the prevailing view today seems to be that this is not so. However, if the mouth is already very crowded, then that can be a valid reason for extraction.

I don't know where you're located, brace. But orthodontists in the USA are treating a growing number of adult patients, with many practices having more than a third of their patients being adults, and some even catering exclusively to an adult clientele. So don't worry about not being a kiddo - you're still in good company. Try picking appointment times in the middle of school hours and you may find the adult patient proportion in the waiting room is higher too

I tried that - didn't work... LOL

My last appointment, which was at 11:30, I had the door held open for me by a nice young teenage boy, and entered a waiting room full of teenagers.. LOL

It's OK, though, because I know I'm doing what's good for me
