    Overbite and some other stuff!!

    Hello people
Basically i have had braces on since october 2008 and its now june 2009 so 8 months.
Im moving back to australia and was supposed to get jaw surgery in uk, but as im moving away im going to have some osteopathic treatment (osteopathy) which does not involve any surgery. I have heard that my osteopath can do wonders in bringing my jaw into the right position. If still not improved then i would deffo go for the surgery.

I really do hate the shape of my face and having no jaw line.

If anyone could help me out and share some experiences with me that would be great!!! Here are some pics too...

Hi Easyeasy and welcome to this forum!

Is it possible to do both ... that's continue your orthodontic treatment and surgery and move back to Oz for osteopathic treatment? Are you planning to have fascial and myofascial release as part of your treatment, or is it for another reason totally? ... you don't have to answer that, but I'm confused as to why you can't have osteopathic treatment in the UK.

I suggest you talk to your ortho about your treatment and alternatives, to see what her/his opinion is on this.

Good luck with finding the right answers for you!
After 5 years, 11 months and two days of stainless steel brackets ... my teeth now have upper and lower bonded, gold wire, retainers and removable clear retainers!

    Hi, Sunny

Yeah im moving to australia because of personal reasons....my brother is a osteopath and has told me great things about sorting out my jaw without having surgery!!! So im going to see how that goes and go from there!

Go for it then, but if your teeth are not aligned properly, you'd be best to transfer to an ortho in Oz.

Good luck with getting your jaw sorted!

I would personally explore all options with braces only and if they can get your bite to 75% of wear you want it, than I would settle for that....

Go ahead and start your blog and we can keep offering you advice until you are right where YOU want to be:

    And welcome to the forum

Honestly, I'd say that your chin is both small and set too far back. You've said you are unhappy with that <-- and that is an important point here. So were I you I'd go for the surgery. The results can be spectacular.
I am not a dental professional.

As it says on the main Bracesreview.com page, always consult a qualified orthodontist, dentist, or medical professional with questions you may have.

    Hi easyeasy
am looking at your photos and they actually look like my side profile!
Am on a waiting list to get the fixed appliances and then in 18 months or so get surgery to correct the bottom jaw and move it to a position it should be in ( obviously more foward than it should be)
Have you had impressions and xrays and that stuff?
Before i even had any of xrays and stuff my ortho told me it was likely to be a combo of both. If i went ahead my problem wouldnt be fixed with one or the other, it had to be both.
If your younger than me i have heard you might be offered tight bands to gradually pull your bottom jaw in line. not sure if thats right or not but i would defo explore all your options.
    good luck on you decision.
