Girl with the Underbite

Hello!
My name is Zoey and I've started the process of getting ready to have jaw surgery to correct my underbite. Since I was born I have always had an underbite, but it didn't occur to me that I had a problem until I reached middle school when I was made fun of because of my bite. I've been called "moonface", "jabberjaw" and much worse, but despite my self-consciousness I am hoping that once this procedure is over I will be able to do the following:

1) Chew better without struggling;
2) Jaw clicking will be eliminated; and
3) My confidence will rise

I know its going to be a tough journey, but at the same time I hope that you viewers will join me and if you are going through the same problem or have questions you can always come to me for support.

I got my braces on in March of 2009 and I'm expected to start talking about surgery as early as December. I will blog and post pictures as new things arise, but I am hoping and praying that my surgery will go well and it will start a new beginning.

Hi and welcome Zoey!

It's great you're having surgery for your underbite and the results I've seen have been amazing! My underbite is dental, which means surgery wasn't an option and it's been a long journey combined with an impacted canine and a few other issues.
