Talking Newbie with Inspire Ice - need inputs

Hi!

My name is Mala, 25 years old. I live in Jakarta, Indonesia. If you don't know where Indonesia is, just imagine an archipelago with hundreds of ethnic groups, languages and cultures.

I found Bracesreview by coincidence and apparently it helps me much to relieve my stress about getting braces. In my place, adults with braces are not too common.

I just got my spacers yesterday and will be getting my braces sometime in next week. Inspire Ice, upper and lower, and I'm a bit anxious because they're crystal-clear. If you have any experience with them, please kindly do share. I need to know whether they stain/not, fragile/not, etc.

Thank you so much.

Hi and welcome to this forum Mala!

I've seen the inspire ice bracket and they look like a very nice bracket. They won't stain, as they're not absorbent. Ligs, powerchains, powerchord and elastics will stain, but even though we may find it hard to cope with, most people won't notice, as they're not really interested in our mouths ... not like us, who are obsessed with them.

You've chosen your ortho, so be confident this person wouldn't offer a bracket to their patients if they weren't suitable, as it's your ortho that's going to have to work with you for the length of your treatment.

Good luck with your preparations for starting your treatment and please post any questions/concerns that you have.

Hi Sunny!

I read many of your posts and they help me much. Thanks for the reply and encouragement, Sunny!

My ortho is very young. He was my kindergarten friend, and since he is my friend, we communicate easily. I can simply complain or ask him if something inconvenient happens. One thing I need to know is, is ortho's experience affect his skill? I mean, he hasn't had vast experience yet, is that a big problem?

Thank you so much!

Every experienced ortho had to have their first client etc. The important thing for ortho's with less experience is that they have someone to mentor them. It's great that your ortho is a friend. A good question for him would be to ask what he does if a client has a case he's not sure of what to do next with? Hopefully he has someone more experienced that he consults with.

Knowledge/skill is a mixture of learning from both practical and non practical, so I hope your friend has done heaps of both.

You can also ask if he's treated anyone with a bite like you have? Does he have any before and after photos etc?

Good luck and I'm sure you'll be fine with your decision!

Yeah, fortunately he has several mentors. He has consulted my case with his lecturers as well. Still lack of experience, but I see him as a person who is really eager to learn.

Thanks, Sunny. You cast down my worries.

I have Ice braces since about a week, lowers only (getting invisalign on the uppers) I am happy with them, I think they are as discret as braces can be (ok for now, maybe they find new options in a few years..). Ok, I have them on the lowers only, but noone can notice them. Even when I asked people to look at me and tell me if they can see a change they asked if I dyed my hair I have a white, not silver wire, so that might help.
They are also quite small and not sharp so you'll get used to them quickly.. though of course the first few days were not fun.. especially the eating!!

Just got Inspire Ice a few days ago....so far so good..u can hardly tell I'm wearing them...I just noticed how crooked my teeth really are because the brackets are crooked, but I'm certain they will change as my teeth straighten..I'm sure I made the right choice...just have to learn how to eat all over again..lol

Thanks for sharing and reducing my anxiety.

Ah, lucky you, Mona, getting Invisalign and Inspire Ice with white wire. It definitely makes them less less noticeable. My ortho prefers a small silver wire, but I hope it won't be a big problem.

Hi tsd,
Glad to hear that you are happy with your choice. My friends keep asking me about my decision choosing Ice braces. They incessantly remind me about the cons of clear braces. Besides chewing difficulties, you don't have any problem with the braces so far, do you?

let's see some pictures of them.... I wouldn't sweat the cons of clear vs metal brackets...

trust me the ice brackets are the way to go. I'm so happy I chose those.. they are much clearer and smaller then ceramic braces. they do look like ice, and the actual brackets do not stain... the bands will, but those get changed every time you go to the ortho
