Hi and welcome to this forum Smylex!
Good luck with researching your surgery options and finding out about the insurance side of things.
I work for three orthodontist's, two of hom work with patients needing surgery. The surgeons' we work with don't mind if our patients have ceramic brackets, which is good, as we don't charge any extra for them.
Brackets are brackets ... honestly you'll get used to them no matter what they're made of, or how they look. Brackets don't move teeth ... that takes the archwire in the hands of a skilled orthodontist.
No matter what type of bracket, most people find they rub the inside of their mouths a little to begin with, which is understandable, as this space has been vacant up till now. It's best to use wax the second you feel any rubbing, so that the inside of your mouth can toughen without sores. Sores mean the skin needs to rebuild and then these new cells need to start the whole process again.
Please ask as many questions as you want, as we'll help as much as we can.![]()
