After 5 years, 11 months and two days of stainless steel brackets ... my teeth now have upper and lower bonded, gold wire, retainers and removable clear retainers!
thanks for the warm welcome Sunny
my case: I have an underbite and got so much spaces on my lower. started immediately on elastics even the very first day of having the brackets on. i still havent found any similar case on the forumand hoping to learn more about these elastics and how they function
Thanks again!
Netmo are you wearing class III elastics ... from lower canine to upper first molar?
I've been wearing these to correct my class III bite for three years. They do an amazing job of pulling the lower teeth back in the jaw and upper teeth forward in the jaw. My class III was minor, but it took quite some time to change, but an impacted canine did affect this progress.
You were lucky to already have space, which means the elastics had work available for them to do. Most people need other alignment work sorted before the elastics can do their job.
Good luck with you seeing progress soon!![]()

Hei Sunny, I am really sorry coz I dont really know the diffrent dental/medical terms or classesbut I attached two photos.... I was a bit rebel and I placed another elastic on the lower back (see pic) without informing my ortho (he is on vacay for 2 weeks, you see) I was thinking it would help it to move the teeth more quicker. My last appointment was 18th feb and ortho said that the lower bite would shift so quickly that i have to change the places of the elastics using one hook on the top to the 2 hooks on the lower (opposite of what is today)... will the elastics change my face profile?
Netmo please don't do anything to your elastics that your ortho doesn't tell you to do. If you try to make your teeth move faster you risk reabsorption damage to the roots of your teeth, which means they could fall out in years to come. Also the movement you think is necessary, may not be how your ortho is planning to do it, which means any changes may have to be corrected and then reworked ... causing delays in treatment time.
Your brackets look great, although it's hard to tell from the photos what type of bite you have. Your lowers do look to have gaps, which will mean more room available as those teeth come together.
Your profile may change a little, but nothing major, as with adults bones do not move, only the teeth within the bone structure.
Good luck with your progress!![]()

Netmo you have one form of the triangle. The side profile photo you included, shows that the lower teeth are being pulled back, which is where they need to go. The front on photo doesn't show what is happening on the other side.

Netmo please do not 'play at orthodontics' ... it takes loads of training to be able to design a treatment plan. Please remove that elastic, as it can do many things that won't help your treatment. The one thing you should be confident about, is that if you needed an elastic where you've put it, your ortho would have done this.
Patients who decide to 'play at orthodontics' during treatment, regularly cause their treatment to go off track and to take longer. They also risk damaging the roots of their teeth, due to forcing their teeth to move too quickly. This can result in teeth falling out in years to come, due to root reabsorption.
Good luck with your treatment, but please leave it to the person you're paying good money to!![]()

Thanks for the advice Sunny, I actually took it off last night, when I read on one of your posts about the long term effect of deciding on my own about these elastics... ortho is still on vacation but I am meeting him next wednesdaythen next weekend I am off to Asia for a 15-day vacay!
Thank God for this forum!![]()
Good for you taking it off ... your teeth will be grateful!
All the best with your appointment next week and then have a great time in Asia!![]()
