Hey everyone!
I am new here (obviously lawlz) anywho I am 25/f live in Texas and I am taking the bite into getting braces!
My younger sister who is 23 just had hers taken off and I was amazed by the result and her gain in confidence a few days later i called my ortho and got the ball rolling.
I wanted to start the treatment a year ago but i had 8 cavities and needed a root canal. Sadly, that took a lot of time and moneythe canal was $1,000 itself which i was planning on using as my down payment. Needless to say '09 was not the year for me.
2010 is a different story now that I am cavity free. My ortho is a family doctor and my braces came out to $4,800 and i am getting clear damon braces on the top. I am a receptionist and talk a lot and honestly at my age I figured that was the best choice. My treatment time should be 18-24 months I am praying for 18 months but in the end i just want it done right
I start April 23 and planning on being more active here through this what may be a painful yet wonderful journey.
Welcome, Noobster!
Congratulations on making the decision to go ahead with treatment! I am sure you'll be thrilled when all is said and done. Whether it is 18 or 24 months or something in between... time flies! When you get discouraged, just take a look at your sister's beautiful smile!
Keep us posted!
I plan on it and thanks for the kind reply![]()

Take care ... and remember to drink plenty of water to keep your body well hydrated, use lip balm for your lips and if a bracket rubs, use generous amounts of wax so that your mouth toughens without sores forming!![]()
After 5 years, 11 months and two days of stainless steel brackets ... my teeth now have upper and lower bonded, gold wire, retainers and removable clear retainers!
