    Hi!

I just got my full metal Damon braces put on April 13th, 2010. Overall, it hasn't been bad, but let's just say that I could probably be another major contributor to the wax makers. I try to go without wax for a day or so, but end up in wax, as my cheeks are so sore.

I got braces to fix a really turned tooth on the bottom in the front, but apparently, it's so turned that I have to have one of those springs put in before they can even put the brace on. They said they would put it on during my next appointment in 8 weeks. I popped off a back brace, but I think it's okay, since the wire isn't going all the way to the back, yet. I suppose I should call and make sure.

My treatment is expected to take 14 months. I never had braces on as a child, so I've been reading a lot of the posts here for the best advice. I've appreciated all of the advice so far!

    Hi and welcome Maketa!

Please don't be concerned that you're needing so much wax. Your mouth will toughen while the wax is on, whereas without it you risk mouth sores, which can cause this whole process to start again. Rinsing with warm salt water is great for soothing and healing a sore mouth and is recommended to be done 5+ times a day when your mouth is sore.

Here's to your treatment going smoothly!
After 5 years, 11 months and two days of stainless steel brackets ... my teeth now have upper and lower bonded, gold wire, retainers and removable clear retainers!

Thanks, Sunny. I started rinsing with salt water just yesterday after I read it in the forums.
