Question Bite Turbo? What's a bite turbo?

So, day #2 in braces with "bite turbo". All I know if the technician said "you're not gonna like this".....and she is correct. My question is: if the turbo is supposed to prevent my teeth from hitting the braces, shouldn't my teeth hit the turbo rather than the brackets? My front teeth are hitting the brackets and the turbots are just enjoying the view! Any advice? Do I wait until my next appointment in 2 months to see how my teeth have moved?

I got braces about a week ago and also have bite turbos. I hate it! My turbos are behind my front top teeth and my bottom teeth hit them all the time. Very painful. However, I think that is the idea. Call your ortho and let him/her know that you are biting down on your brackets. They could break off if you keep doing that.

SoCal your bite turbos are doing the job that they should do. They can take a bit of adjusting to, but as your bite opens, you'll find them easier to cope with. Plus hopefully it won't be too long till they're removed.

I hope you've seen your ortho I'm To Old For This, as you risk damaging your teeth if they're banging on backets.

    Good luck to you both!

Your teeth should not be hitting the brackets. This can cause damage to the enamel, the bone itself, and the nerves. Call your ortho to have them either make it bigger, or place it elsewhere. I had one for the first 2 months of my treatment and I HATED IT. They are, truly, the most horrible thing ever (next to a palate expander haha). I also had mine on the back of my front tooth. My sister had one at the same time I did, and my friend who just got braces also has it. They are horrible, miserable, and a complete pain in the behind - but it'll come off before you know it. Good luck!

As your bite improves, your teeth will move into places that allow them to come together properly, and there won't be a risk of them 'banging' into another bracket.

    Bite Turbo

I just had my braces put on yesterday and I had to have a bite turbo placed. I had no idea what it was so I started looking it up on google. I only had one bite turbo put on to one of my front teeth. After reading everything on the internet I feel as if this is incorrect and I should have two. Anyways it is causing a lot of discomfort to my tongue. I feel like I have no where to put it and it feels awkward having this foreign object only pushing into one side of my tongue when I try to rest it. It has made sleeping very uncomfortable. I was wondering if anyone knew why I only had one and If it would do the same job its doing on the front teeth if they moved it to another tooth. I would really rather have it in the back so I can at least rest my tongue. It has also torn up the front of my tongue.
