    Post Hello from Tennessee !

    Hello,

I have had my partial braces on for almost 3 weeks now. I have 6 porcelain brackets on top and bottom due to crowding and an overlapping front tooth. I'm 30yrs. old and feel a little ridiculous with braces on but my parents didn't have the money to put me in them when I was young. So, here I am.

My dentist tells me that I'll be in traditional braces for 3 months and invisilign for 3 months. He also "stripped" my bottom teeth this week and I am still a little concerned with that. This is actually the reason I looked for a forum to see if anyone else is having anything close to the same treatment as me. And, I have to say I haven't been lucky. So, if you are please let me know. I'd love to talk to you!

    Thanks!

Great that you've found this forum and I hope you find it helpful!

You're quite young among the 'adult' group, so here's to you feeling loads of support here!

IPR ... the removal of small amounts of enamel from the sides of the teeth is a great way to achieve space without extractions. If a smaller amount of space is needed, then the size of a whole first or second molar, this is the answer. I had it done a few times on my lower teeth, due to there not being enough space and those then moved into alignment nicely.

Wow ... your treatment is for only 6 months ... amazing for you! Make sure you're committed to a lifetime of retainer wear and then enjoy the process!
After 5 years, 11 months and two days of stainless steel brackets ... my teeth now have upper and lower bonded, gold wire, retainers and removable clear retainers!

I had IPR done two weeks ago and have to say that it did hurt a bit. My teeth are very tight on the bottom and it took a lot to get them stripped. In the last two weeks my teeth have moved so much. I guess IPR really was needed. I went to the dentist on Monday and had my wire changed to a thicker wire. Due to this have been having some difficulty eating. Even though I don't have brackets on my back teeth, they have been really sore. I'm really excited to continue seeing the changes, and the finished smile !
