    Hi and welcome!

Rinsing with warm salt water 5+ times a day is one of the best ways to deal with mouth sores. I hope this helps!

    Good luck with your treatment!
After 5 years, 11 months and two days of stainless steel brackets ... my teeth now have upper and lower bonded, gold wire, retainers and removable clear retainers!

Hey Lynne! I'm almost 23 and like you, I'm so glad I found this site. At first I never really got mouth sores, but a few months into my treatment I was starting to get some in the back on my mouth on one side (I guess my arch had changed- which is a good thing but man did my mouth hurt!). Piercing/ alternative clothing stores sometimes sell a pre-made mouth rinse for people with tongue piercings. I bought some, and it's lightly lemon-flavoured. (Note: Still tastes like ass though!! lol) Anyway it's in a spray bottle and the proportions of salt to water are already mixed up for you. I'd recommend getting some. That being said, many will recommend you put orthodontic wax on any spiky parts in your mouth as well. If you choose to do this, you're supposed to leave the wax on while you eat (a common question). I think the consistency of the wax is too gross (read: like boogers) so I usually just suck it up and deal with the pain in my cheeks. But hey that's just me. Good luck with your treatment, do you have any progress pics of your smile?

    hey

Thanks for the advice. I have been using the wax but i find it hard to get it to stay on the bracket!!! think i will try that spray!!! havn't took any photos cause I hate looking at photos as my teeth stick out so much but I think it would be a good idea to do it then I could monitor my progress!!!!
