Hey im new to this forum & braces!

Hey im new to this forum so dont really know how to use it! I only got braces yesterday so thought i would use this for support! The weird thing is that my orthodontist only put on the metal square blocks on each tooth but no wire? im presuming the wire will come on soon but i was just wondering why he has decided to not put it on now?

welcome to the forum!!! hope u are getting on ok with ure braces!!!! not sure y u didn't get a wire put on I got my wire on the same day as the brackets!!!! been wearing them since January and everthing is going really well!!!! if u want to know anything just ask!!!!

Ah thankyou for replying im in desperate need to know what kind of foods i need to be eating so i dont damage/stain/break my braces? i know they give you a rough guideline by saying you cant eat sugary foods or apples ect but any suggestions of what meals to eat? im guessing you cant eat curry much as it stains? any foods that youve tried and have been totally wrong for the braces?
Sorry so many questions its day 2 of braces and im already worrying!

Sometimes I have bacon or sausage sandwiches for breakfast but since I got braces this has been a disaster - the bread gets stuck anywhere and everywhere!

As long as you keep up a balanced diet with nothing too crunchy (so you feel comfortable eating it) you should be fine. Softer food like pasta and scrambled egg can be nice just after an adjustment cos you don't really have to chew. Make sure you are drinking loads of water!

thanks! should i be staying away from curry then? i eat pizza without cheese which is weird i know but i guess its good as the cheese wont get stuck in my braces now but as the pizza sauce is red would that stain my teeth? and like pasta sauces would they? im not some junk food maniac haha ive just got a birthday meal tomorrow and were going to pizza express!
Also, can you drink alcohol with braces? if so what would you suggest?

Curry will stain ligatures. Food coloring and stuff like tea, coffee, red wine may do so over time too. Some lig colors don't stain as badly as others; I found silver and mauve/pink worked well for me. I did not give up alcohol for braces

I'm still an absolute noob with braces..only had mine on for just over a month, but how are the teeth supposed to straighten with no wire to pull them?

I feel my diet hasn't really changed since getting braces. The key is not to eat too hard of foods so u dnt break the brackets off!!! I wouldn't really worry about staining the brackets as long as u clean your teeth after you eat. I carry toothbush and mouthwash everywhere with me!!! I have clear brackets on my teeth and I haven't stained yet!!!
