I just read this post out loud to see if my teeth collide, and one of my uper right teeth hit a lower one (rather randomly) on an 's' sound but that's it. I don't know if that's normal or not though, sorry!
Hello all,
I had some work done on three molars 2 months ago (they had some cavities and were filled with white composites). Ever since, my teeth have been a bit sore and my jaw feels tight. The thing that concerns me is that I find top front teeth colliding with my bottom ones when I am talking. This happens randomly and it doesn't really hurt but sometimes they collide really hard and it makes my teeth feel sore for a while. Also, my upper left canine hits the tooth below it a bit hard nearly every time I say a word that starts or ends with the letter 's'.
I don't know whether I had this problem before or after filling the molars, as I have been paying extra attention to my jaw after my visit to the dentist. I don't want to go to him again as he will probably shave down my teeth a bit (this is what he always says whenever I tell him my mouth feels sore -_-).
So my question is: is it normal for teeth to randomly collide together (or touch) when talking (especially the upper and lower front teeth) ? And does this happen when pronouncing certain letters or is it a normal process that happens while speaking?
Your answers are really appreciated. Thank you in advance.

lol that's really sweet of you !! I actually find it happening with 's'sounds more than other sounds. I think I might have a habit of moving my lower jaw forward when I speak but I'm not sure whether it's because of it or not.
I have an appointment with my orthodontist tomorrow and I'll see what he has to say
Thanks a lot for your reply.

I never noticed my teeth colliding before, but once I got the braces on, omg it hurts when they collide. My teeth havent shifted yet (this started happening the 1st day I got the wires on). I don't know if I just didnt notice it before and now the colliding is just magnified due to the braces or what.... but I was wondering if this was normal too.
