Started my Ortho treatment, getting braces put on soon. A little concern.

Hi my name is Jennifer I'm 20 and I am finally getting my braces put on the 14th.

My mouth is very crowded so I understand that I need the 4 extractions, however I have read some posts about peoples faces getting pushed in because they had their teeth taken out? I think I am so terrified of this happening! I love my face, I don't want it to change for the worse.

Also I seem to get very anxious before any appointment I have whether it be doctors, dentist, ortho, you name it I get anxious and scared so I am always shaking for my appointments. Anybody have any advice to calm down??

I had separators for a week and it was HORRIBLE! I could not bite down on anything! I got them removed last night and got fitted for my appliance. Tomorrow I have a deep cleaning, and I need to get my extractions before the 9th, I will probably get them done on the 7th. On the 9th I am getting separators again but I think it wont hurt as much as all my 2nd pre-molars will be out and I will probably only need 4 separators. Then on the 14th I am getting EVERYTHING put in. I have a 2 hour appointment to get my appliance and my whole braces put on. I AM SOOOO TERRIFIED!!! I think mostly because I don't know what to expect. I heard of people being allergic to the metal? Also whenever I think of all that metal in my mouth I don't know how I'm not going to feel sick!!! Having all that going on??

Any advice would be helpful. Thank you!!!

You might want to move this post to the traditional braces forum for some replies. Welcome. I had 4 teeth removed for my braces, and yes, my mouth will change. My profile will look less protruding.
