What type of jaw surgery? Average cost is close to 5,000 per jaw depending on the procedure....

hi, can you also pm or email me any surgeons recommendations? I have a slight underbite and I wore braces for 2 years, it seems to correct the problem a little bit, butmy underbite is still obvious from my side profile, I think it may be my jaw problem. Thank you.

I have a severve overbite and clicking in the jaw that requires braces and jaw surgery. Will OHIP cover any of it? I really need this but can't afford to get it done. What can I do if OHIP doesn't cover anything?

From what I gather, OHIP covers everything except the surgeon's fees. (So hospital fees, anesthesia, etc.) If you have health insurance, that may cover the surgeon's fees.

OHIP already covers hospital fees, anesthesia, so does that mean they will cover all of it? Does the orthodontist and surgeon contact them or do I?

OHIP does not cover the surgeon's fees. Nor does it cover orthodontia. These will both need to be out of your pocket (or covered by your insurance if you have insurance that offers such coverage).

Your way forward, I believe, is to consult with some orthodontists (many in Canada offer basic consultations free of charge). Once you are working with an ortho, he should be able to recommend some good surgeons for this type of work. And I believe the surgeon would coordinate trhings with the hospital. But I'm not sure - either way though, your surgeon's office should be able to advise you on that aspect.
