Going ahead with jaw surgery

I've had braces for like 6 months and I think to get the best results I'm going to go ahead with surgery. During my next visit I'm going to tell my ortho. I hope he is not irritated or shocked by my decision because I was getting camouflage treatment. Can anyone tell me the steps and their experience pre-op and post-op?

What is your situation for wanting jaw surgery?

I hope your ortho is well versed, because I have found that ideally, it is best when the ortho has worked with several oral surgerons that they can recommend you to.

I have a receding chin and am sure my jaws aren't where there supposed to be. I also want it because I feel like it would complete my whole treatment so I don't have to experience a relapse and have to get braces multiple times.

Relapse happened to me.. I usually would try to do anything to avoid surgery, but in this case it is hard to avoid it...

Mike make sure you need surgery and find out why your won't have a further relapse with surgery. There are stats to support the finding that for those patients who have relapse ... it will happen with or without surgery. Of course there are exceptions to every rule.

Ya, I wore my retainer a lot.

My crossbite was never fixed though as it was obvious I needed surgery to fix it... My thoughts at the time were that I would do anything to avoid surgery...

sorry if i wasn't clear...

I only did braces... didn't want to/nor could i afford surgery at the time...

My bite is better, just not 100%.

I don't think my case is severe enough to warrant going through surgery.. although having a crossbite on one side sucks...
