    Elastics

so today i got elastics, but on one side of my mouth. (BTW i get my braces off next visit in 7 weeks anyways, the doctor said to take them off when you eat..since its only on one side of my mouth can i leave it in and just chew on the side of my mouth without the elastics? if i can't, then when i do take them off for a meal do i have to put a new one back on or put the same one back on until the next day? thanks.

well i still dont have elastics yet but it's probably better to take them off when you eat. and you definately need to change them to new ones!

My 11 year old son just had braces put on 4 weeks ago and already has to have elastics. He had them put on last week. Our ortho said he could leave them in to eat, but has to change them 3 times a day! I feel for him, since we just started treatment and has to have the braces and elastics on for the next 3-4 years! He has a horrible underbit. The ortho said he never seen such a bite in all his years!
