    RPE Problems

My son is 7 and just got an RPE. I am having GREAT difficulty turning the key as he has a terrible gag reflex. I will get it to where it needs to be and he gags and jerks my hand away. This causes the appliance to go back just enough so that I can't get the key in place for the next turn.

I have had to go back to the orthodontist twice to get them to tweak it so that it could be turned again.

Is there another way to fix a crossbite other than using this RPE...could he be too young?

    Thanks

unfortunately he is a bit too young.. but it is a great option along with braces.. if the upper jaw is too small (in most cases of crossbites) sometimes it grows as the child gets older...

Braces with the use of elastics can also help shift the bite where it needs to be..

Get your ortho and several other ortho opinions.. starting young and gaining the knowlege can be a great thing!

    good luck
