    Deep Bite! CLear braces?

Hello everyone. Im 28 years old and I finally going to go get my teeth fixed! I have an extremely deep bite. My top teeth completley cover my bottom teeth. Im going on Wednesday to get all my x-rays and molding done. Im soo nervous can someone tell me if they have the clear braces and how they like them? WHen I was a kid some people had the clear and they always look yellow? Is there a difference between clear and ceramic? Do braces hurt??

Hi. So, how are the braces?
I got the clear (ceramic, actually) braces, too, on Jan. 25th, so it's been about 3 weeks. I like them so far. People can't really tell that I have a bunch of stuff on my teeth and I don't think they look yellow.
I'm about to turn 24, so yeah I hear you about wanting something less noticeable.

I don't have the braces yet. I went last Wednesday to go to the radiology dept. to get all my x-rays and I guess those take about three weeks to get to the Dr. after that they will do my molds etc. Tomorrow I have to get a cavity filled ughhhh :x I hate dental work. So did your braces hurt? I'm hoping to get ceramic as well I just hope they look ok!!! Kepp me up to date on how yours are going!! Best of luck.. Jess

Oh, OK. It was really quick at the place I went to. They took all the x-rays and a bunch of other pictures, and I got braces the same day. It doesn't hurt to put them on, at all. And it only takes about 20 minutes (or even less
). It might start hurting a few hours later, and it hurts to chew. The first few days I could only eat things like apple sause and mashed potatoes :? It's been about 3 weeks, but I still can't eat anything hard. And my bite has changed in a really weird way, but hopefully that'll start improving. And I hate dental work, too...I was soooo freaking out when I went to have my braces put on :o
Good luck with your braces, too!!!!!! I hope you like the ceramic ones. They say that ceramic brackets might be a little easier to break, but...just don't eat any of the "hard" or "sticky" foods and you should be ok.
Let me know how everything goes. When are you getting your braces? You said three weeks? How long will you have to have them for?

Well Tomorrow I go get a cavity filled. But they said it will take about three weeks to get my xrays back from the radiologist. My teeth arent crooked but my bite is bad my top teeth cover my bottom teeth completly. I guess my xrays were sent to a specialist in Las Vegas. Where are you at? Im in Northern Cali. soooo in three weeks I should find out where we go from there... Yeh I was reading up on the ceramic braces and they said that they dont break as easy as some people say they do. I need to loose a little weight as well hahaha maybe not being able to eat will be good! hahaha I'll let you know how it goes! I cant believe you got yours the same day!

I was kind of surprised, too, to be getting braces the same day. But, I think it's not unusual for the office I went to. When I got my paperwork from them, they said that I might be getting braces the same day (just to be prepared, I guess). And you said your x-rays needed to be sent to a different state?...I am all the way on the East coast--in Atlanta, Georgia.
It's interesting, but my bite was actually OK, except that my front top teeth are not straight. So, the braces are not correcting the bite for me, but in the process of straightening my teeth, my bite changes soooooo much in a soooooooo weird way. And I only have the top braces, for now. I don't know when I'm getting the bottom ones...I guess, once the top is straight I'll get the bottom to bring my bite back to normal.
How did your trip to the dentist go?

UGHHHHH I hate the dentist.. It hurt! There is not enough Novacain to numb the sound of the drill!! So they told me that my x-rays should be back next week. THen they will make a mold of my mouth and that takes another three weeks to get back from the lab!! ughh I just want to get it done already....

I felt the same way--I wanted to get these things and start counting the time until I get them off But three weeks will fly by, really. It's just the first week in braces that seems to reeeeeealy drag. It gets better, though, I think. I'm getting used to mine...sort of....

You said that you were concerned about ceramic braces looking yellow...Well, I was told that the little elastic things that go around the bracket to hold the wire get "yellow". It's like any time you eat something like ketchup...it stains them. But, my orthodontist gave me (and I only have those on my front 4 (or maybe 6) teeth) these brackets that "lock" the wire themselves and you don't need to use those elastics. So, nothing stains. My teeth, though, do look sort of yellow after I got the braces. I used to whiten my teeth all the time, so I can really see the difference. Anyway, you can ask your orthodontist to get that kind of brackets, maybe.
