?? My bite is off ??

Couple days ago, i noticed that my bite is off... usually when i bite down i feel my molars touching on the left & right sides, now i just feel it touching on my left... i don't understand? is this normal in terms of having braces and it's progress in shifting? Has anyone felt or been through this?

completely normal. sometimes it gets worse before it gets better.

In my situation my crossbite actually turned into an underbite slightly with one tooth before being pulled into place a few months later.

You can always ask your ortho too, just to make sure you guys are on the same page.

I have a terrible over bite. When I 'chomp' down, my top row is down so far that the bottom is touching the roof of my top row. I am so worried I will have to get 'headgear'. Is this normally what braces fix, or will there be more procedures needing done.

Also, I have a canine (my top left) tooth that is coming down ( enclosed pic )Will this tooth need to be extracted, or surgery moved, or will braces also fix this??? I am SO scared. I don't know what to expect.........

Thanx Stephanie for the info =] i tried callin my ortho but i haven't been able to get thru with her but i do believe that it's just progress. But since i been aware of it, i can't help but keep "biting" down .

To cheetahgirl1994, i do believe that braces will fix ur overbite & ur left canine.... u don't need to get it pulled out or anything. As for the headgear i HOPE that won't be necessary. You can visit my blog @ http://www.bracesreview.com/forums/b...es-w-pics.html Hope e.thing turns out well =]

silvermist it's totally to be expected, as your teeth will be aligning and as they do that, your 'usual' or 'old' bite will be moving. This will probably happen for quite some time, and you'll find your bite changes are something to look forward to, as they signal change!

cheetahgirl1994 canines like your one are easy to align with braces. The canines are two of our most important teeth and used to help align our bite, so it's very important not to have them pulled!

Headgear is not used a great deal now, and it's more to move the molars back, to make space. There are alternatives to headgear, so please don't worry about something like this at this stage cheetahgirl1994. Talk to some orthodontist's and find out what is recommended for a case like yours.
After 5 years, 11 months and two days of stainless steel brackets ... my teeth now have upper and lower bonded, gold wire, retainers and removable clear retainers!
