Yep the cost will defintely be cheaper and people get them on the bottom all the time.. As long as you dont have a bite issue, it usually works out to just straighten the bottom teeth.

You may benefit from invisalign too if your teeth arent too bad already...

Hi lyenn and welcome to this forum!

You'd need to consult with a few orthodontist's to find out if they're prepared to treat your bottom teeth only. Some will, but many won't. The reason being is that orthodontics is about gaining the correct bite, and when teeth are moved to make the arch correct, mostly the bite is affected and therefore will need work as well. If your upper arch will remain in great contact with your new straightened lower arch, then you would be a candidate for lower braces only. I agree with Stephanie, that if your case is mild, you may be a good candidate for invisalign.

Cost in this country for lowers only is about 3/4's to 2/3's of the cost of having both arches treated. The brackets don't cost much, therefore the reduction in the cost is not much lower. The costs are about pre treatment (x-rays, moulds, photos), treatment and post treatment ... and there's not a lot of difference between one arch and two.

How long ... ? That will depend on what needs to be done, and only an orthodontist who's checked your x-rays and moulds carefully can give you that information ... and then it's only a guide, as some teeth move faster than others, ... and others move more slowly.

Good luck finding an orthodontist you can communicate with easily and who can provide you with the treatment you want.
After 5 years, 11 months and two days of stainless steel brackets ... my teeth now have upper and lower bonded, gold wire, retainers and removable clear retainers!

I don't know about the cost... it depends on where you live and which ortho you go to, some charge a lot more than their competition... See if invisalign would work for you?
It also depends on what treatment you choose. Some orthos charge more for ceramic.
