Am I supposed to notice when a tooth has moved? I thought this would be a gradual change and that I would only notice a difference after a period of time. A couple of days ago, an upper tooth suddenly changed positions. When I say suddenly, I mean I actually felt it move, and now it is in a new position. It doesn't hurt, but it definitely feels very weird. Also, another upper tooth is very sore and is painful when the smallest amount of pressure is applied to it. Are these things normal? Should I contact my ortho on Monday? I'm mostly worried about the tooth randomly moving. Today is day 17 of having my damon braces.
Thanks in advance!
I always say that if you're concerned, then you should probably call. None of us here is an orthodontist, nor can any of us here see your teeth, so though we can advise about the commonplace, we're not in a position to help with unique individual "situations". Besides, your ortho can give you more peace of mind than we could. So, if you're still worried Monday, give them a call.
That happened to me too. I didn't call I wasn't worried. If in doubt, please call your ortho.
Cellardoor if you're concerned please give your ortho a call.
I've had this happen with a couple of teeth that needed to be rotated. I think it took a while for the continuous pressure to get the periodontal membrane to stretch enough for these teeth to move. I felt like a pop and then some tenderness and could easily see that the teeth had begun to rotate. The tenderness lasted maybe an hour or less ... but it was definitely obvious at the time.
Good luck with seeing more progress!
After 5 years, 11 months and two days of stainless steel brackets ... my teeth now have upper and lower bonded, gold wire, retainers and removable clear retainers!
Thanks for your input, everyone! I'm pretty sure what I'm experiencing is normal, but if it continues to concern me, I'll give my ortho a call.
