When it's bonded correctly, a bracket will not come off easily. There may have been a problem getting the bonding and bracket to connect to that tooth the first time, so hopefully your ortho can sort that for you at your visit tomorrow.

I had some new brackets (7's) put on all of my last molars two days ago. When I would bite, the upper left tooth would hit the bottom bracket. Only 2 days later, I sneezed and bite the bracket off. When I went in today, they put a glue build-up on the bottom molar to prevent my top tooth from bititng off the bottom bracket again, and also did the same on the other side, even though I wasn't tochining, so that my bite would be even. An hour later I had some macaroni and the glue on the side that wasn't initially touching came off! I have to go back for a third time tomorow. Is it always going to come off this easily?

After 5 years, 11 months and two days of stainless steel brackets ... my teeth now have upper and lower bonded, gold wire, retainers and removable clear retainers!
I don't think that Blondii is asking about a bracket coming off in this instance, but rather about one of the molar build-ups popping off. I had molar build-ups myself for a few months. I did experience one popping off, but it was replaced, and I had no more issues sfor the remainder of the time they were required. Hopefully this was a one-off (pardon the pun) for you, Blondii.
I know this thread was originally from a year ago..but I had glue put on my molars today and the one side is TOO much glue. The woman said I'll probably grind some of it off...but i want to know if there's anything I can use to file it down a little bit. It's just too high up...and i have to FORCE my bite shut on the other side...and i think it's also making me gag. I'm a gagger...and I hate it...and since getting the lower brackets on (just today), it's been really bad. I think I've pinpointed to the fact that my bite is off and...I can't explain it, or why, but it's making me gag. Please help :'(

I can relate.
I found it impossible to cope if the build-ups were not even on one side vs the other. If it's still bothering you tomorrow, give your ortho a call and ask her if you can come in to have it tweaked. A small discrepancy doesn't seem to bother some people (and it would indeed wear down given some time) but for others among us it just feels bad, and as good as your ortho seems to be (based on how she responded to all your questions, as you related in the other thread) I am pretty confident that she would not wish you to be in discomfort for any protracted period.

Occlusal bonding is often placed with a band cement that is blue. This way it is easy to see during removal. Various offices may etch the teeth, in during preparation for placement of brackets. Others, do not etch them and rely on a dry field and some mechanical retention. The latter will come off more easily, but this is not a negative when the operator is actually trying to remove them. Particularly if placed in the lower posterior, it is extremely difficult to keep the requisite dry field.
We let all of our patients know that they are temporary and may come off. If it comes off on one side and they are not biting on the brackets, we ask them if they feel comfortable. If not, we will replaced the bonding on the other side. It is our preference to place them on the upper first molars due to lower visibility, relative ease of isolation, and not having to worry about the tongue during removal with a handpiece.
An alternative is to have resin "turbos" bonded to the linguals of the upper incisors, buccal of the lower incisors, or in Class 2 situations, on the buccal of the lower canines. In the past, orthodontists may have given patients a removable bite plate or only bonded one arch at a time.
If there is too much bonding, keeping your mouth open too much, go and see your orthodontist and ask them to take it down. It is possible that due to your bite depth, the amount of occlusal bonding is actually required. If so, unfortunately, you may just have to get used to it.

Thanks for your replies. DOES one get used to it? LOL. It's like 'chewing' with the surface area of the eraser on a pencil!! And, I think I'm doing better on the gagging thing. Not sure what was up with that...but thankfully my reflex has settled down. SERIOUSLY!? I hate being 'a gagger' (it's even written on my file folder at the orthos!)
Oh, and actually, I want to mention that before she put the glue on there, I had ZERO biting surface. I'm not sure why...I obviously wasn't in front of a mirror (darn it), but my back molars didn't touch..and actually none of my teeth were really touching. It was very, very strange. I'm not 100% sure why that was...but anyway, she said she was going to give me something to bite with..and these glue dots are them. Eventually, will I not need these anymore and I'll be able to bite with my molars again? Or...??
The other thing is, there seemed to be enough space between my overbite and the bottom teeth to 'clear' the brackets, but the ortho said to put the glue down just in case. Does this mean I'll need these for the rest of treatment so I don't bump into the lower brackets? If you need to see pictures to know what I mean or to see how my mouth is, I'll be glad to do it - just tell me what shots you want me to attempt to get. (I say attempt because my camera hates focusing...LOL)

Oh yes, it's most certainly possible to get used to it. I was back to chowing down on my normal diet in very short orderAnd yes, you will reach a point in your treatment where the bite is no longer so deep as to require the build-ups, at which point you can wave them an enthusiastic farewell! I can't say how long that will take, but I'd be very much surprised if that time did not come long before you are close to finishing treatment.

i had my brace fitted 2 days ago and i havent eaten properly. this is because i have these blobs of cement on my two top back molars. this stops my teeth from biting together. if u have ever expiernced this you will know its very annoying. i would appreciate it if you could advice me on foods that i could be able to eat. thanks.
I am about a week in and I just now have gotten use to it. One side was a bit high so I bought a finger nail file and filed it down in a couple of minutes and now its much more comfortable. I could have went into the ortho but I was traveling and couldnt make it in.
I lived off of mac & cheese, mashed potatoes, penne pasta, pudding and applesauce until I got used to it.
