Lost my retainer on a plane

    I'll give some history first

When my baby teeth came in, I had 2 teeth with 1 root, and when I lost this tooth, only 1 grew back, so I was 1 tooth short(a lateral incisor).

I had braces from about ages 12-15 to open up a space and eventually get an implant, then got them off and wore a retainer with a fake tooth attached to it until I was almost 18, then lost the retainer for a week, and by the time I scheduled an appointment to get a new one, my teeth had moved enough that I needed to get braces again.

So I had braces for a year, got the implant put in, but not the tooth yet (so my mouth looks like this http://www.restorteeth.com/implants/singleimp... ).

I got the braces off again and plan to get my tooth put on the 25th.

Anyways, I was on a flight from Toronto to Vancouver(about a 6 hour flight away) on the 18th, and lost my retainer, right now I'm doing whatever possible to find it.

If I can't find it, what would be your recommendation? Should I try finding an orthodontist in Vancouver? Hope my teeth don't move and just wait it out? Can anyone point me in the right direction?

If you recently had your braces off, than go to a nearby dentist or orthodontist and have them immediately make you an Invisalign type retainer. Otherwise if you do the molds and wait for the hawley retainers, it sometimes takes 2 weeks.

Did you call the airline lost and found? Probably a long shot, but worth a try.

Although this does not solve your problem right now, but if you don't find your retainer you should consider an Evertain Retainer which is clear like an Invisalign retainer (Evertain - Retainer Replacement Program). If you lose a retainer they make you a new one for just the cost of shipping and handling. You get 3 years of replacements unlimited. Pretty good deal for under $500 which is how much some doctors charge for just one set of retainers!

Good luck to you. I hope everything works out.
