    Getting them off too early?

Hello everyone! I'm new here! my name is Dimple and I had braces since April 2007.

today I went for what I thought was an adjustment, but my ortho tells me that if I am happy with my teeth that I can get them removed in the next one or two appointements. I took a look at my teeth and my right canine and the tooth in front of it are still too high in my opinion, and not even with the other side. I talked to my ortho about it today and he said hes not sure if we can pull them down any further. But he did put a bend in the wire to try and fix the tooth in front of the canine. And I am continuing to wear my rubber bands. I need advice, is it too early to get them removed if my canine is not all the way pulled down? Should I wait til it is corrected? Or is it not possible to pull it down anymore? Thanks

I would leave them on another month or too and work with your ortho and the elastics to see if it will come down some more. Even if it does come down, I like to hold it there with elastics for another month or 2 for stability.

Once you get the retainers, you cannot do any pulling like you can iwth the elastics to hold them in place.. so stability is the key.

When I spoke about my canine and other tooth which are high he also mentioned they may stay that way due to the possibe contact with the tongue.

Tough to say if your ortho is right or just not confident in going for it...

Let's see what sunny or zoso thinks...

    Don't look at me

You've done the right thing, carame1aura1 in speaking to your orthodontist about your reamining concerns. If you're not happy with the results, then you and he need to persevere just a little longer until either you are pleased with the results, or at the least that you are satisfied that they are as good as will be possible - it's no good you getting the braces off and having regrets that you didn't try to address these issues.

If these teeth do come down but only with difficulty, or even if they will not come down, it may be worth discussing with him whether he feels a bonded retainer might be a good idea - Mike's note about what a removable retainer can/can't do is spot on.

My ortho did say that we will continue on the treatment until I am happy with the result. In a way I want them off, but I know it is worth the extra wait
guess i will remain a for a few months longer lol

Great! You're looking at it in terms of your long-term satisfaction, and it seems your orthodontist is doing so too!
