    Wire problems

Hello im new to the forums. I've had braces for about a year and 1 month. I just currently went to my appointment and they did the routine tightening but the wire doesn't go through one of the brackets in the back. Is this important to fix asap or is it possible to wait until the next appointment.

In cases like this my advice is invariably the same: give your ortho a call and describe the situation, so that they can decide.

As it says on the main Bracesreview.com page, always consult a qualified orthodontist, dentist, or medical professional with questions you may have.

I personally had this happen towards the end of my treatment and the ortho was not worried about it... The assistant noticed it and he said to leave it and not replace the wire.

As zoso said, best to point it out to your ortho as MANY times they over look things when having seen many patients.

if a wire doesnt go through a bracket does it affect all the teeth or only that particular one where it's not going through the bracket.

it will not affect only that one tooth. Unless the orthodontist is using some sort of fixed anchor point - miniscrew implants, headgear, etc. - then all that wires and elastics and such can act on are the teeth, and all the teeth that are involved will tend to move. If one tooth is omitted that should be included then the forces acting on the other teeth will not be quite what they are meant to be. So this might cause other teeth to move a bit differently than intended.
