Bumpppppppppppp
Hey guys ive had my braces for about 2 and a half weeks and my wire has become soft. So i was chewing some food and my backl wire slipped out, and i tried to get it back in using a plucker but its very long. What should I do and what should i use to get it back in the hole?
Thank You.
Bumpppppppppppp
What shall i do? please helpppp
This is very common and happened to me alot on the back brackets....My advice is to make an appointment monday to get the ortho to fix it...
Even if you slide it back into the bracket, it still needs to be fixed....
As long as it is not causing you any pain or discomfort, I wouldn't worry about it until the you get to your ortho.
Start you blog on here and we can offer you moore advice along the way.

Thank you Mike :D
The wire didn't get softer. The initial wire is generally a flexible wire. If there is a large space between your last two teeth, a biting force can deflect the wire enough to come out of the last bracket.
Solutions:
1. If it isn't bothering you right now, just leave it as is.
2. If it is bothering you, go ahead and use a clean pair of nail clippers to clip the wire, being careful not to lose the end that is being cut. Our office provides each patient with a distal end cutter that will hold the wire after being cut for such emergencies. It is costly, but our patients appreciate this in times like this.
3. Next time, make sure the wire is long enough to cover the length of the last bracket and beyond. Ask for the wire to be bent behind the last bracket. This way, the wire will be unable to slide out so easily.
Of course, the wire is only going to come out if there is excess force placed on it. Take extra care when biting or eating. This shouldn't happen with later wires, but those wires will permanently deform if too much pressure is placed on them.
Good luck!

Your patients (especially those who live farther away) must really appreciate those distal end cutters when (if) you reach a stage of closing significant spaces!
I am not a dental professional.
As it says on the main Bracesreview.com page, always consult a qualified orthodontist, dentist, or medical professional with questions you may have.
We ask our patients to use them only in very uncomfortable situations and show them how to use it as a part of braces care instructions the day the braces go on. As you mentioned, they come in very handy for long weekends, people on vacations, or those who live far away.
95% of our patients never need to use it, but those that do are very grateful :). Our policy is that it is important to care for patients while they are in our office, but to make sure they are taken care of while away from our office as well!
