Gum/Root pain

Hi all,

As of Friday of last week I've had some really bad pain one of my teeth. It feels like it may be coming from my innermost molar or the smaller tooth in front of it. (Bottom Left)

The pain extends deep into the gum and it hurts to put pressure even externally. It really reminds me of the pain I feel after an extraction or with an abscessed tooth.

The pain so far in the last 7 months of having my braces has been minor but this is far worse and it has me concerned. I'm taking a lot if ibuprofen and sometimes it helps, sometimes it doesn't.

I went skydiving Friday morning so I'm thinking that perhaps I clenched my jaw too hard and injured myself somehow?

I had my ortho look at it and he said he didn't see anything wrong but if it continues to hurt for a week to have my dentist take some XRays and maybe a pulp test.

To make it a little more unbearable I just got my final set of wires in and powerbands (Ligs that are connected) so pretty much everything else hurts on top of it now too.

Any ideas/suggestions?

Thanks!
Justin

Ouch.

I'd definitely suggest getting your general dentist to take a look if the pain persists. Top possibilities I'd say are a gum infection (but if there is no evident redness, swelling, or bad smell/taste, that seems less likely) or that there is a problem with the root.

Good luck with it!

(And your teeth look great, btw!)

Your teeth are looking amazing!

I recommend a visit to your dentist to have an x-ray of the tooth/area that's causing you so much grief. Hopefully it's nothing major, but better to get it checked and sorted, than having to be in so much pain and on so many pain meds.

Good luck!

Thanks!

It was feeling just fine during the day yesterday but it hit me like a Mack truck last night. It was fine after some Ibuprofen and about an hour but I'm definitely getting it checked on Monday if the pain persists.
