Whats the best type of Wax to use, in your opinion

    Hi everyone,

Firstly, i think this is one of the best sites i've found for helping each other out. My braces go on in a few weeks, and im just getting everything prepared.

What is the best type of Wax to use in your opinion?. There are lots of brands out there, but which ones have you all found the best to use. Easy to apply, remove, comfortable, etc.

Appreciate any help or advice you can offer.

    Hi and welcome Joshy!

Wax is one of those interesting products, were some people love one type and others another. So really the best type of wax, is the one that works easiest for you. In the beginning, of course you don't know this, so the best wax is probably the commonly available one, that should work for everyone, but some people find it does take a bit more work. It usually comes in a container with four short sausage lengths slightly joined. You pinch off a piece, work it in your fingers, till it becomes more supply and easy to squeeze, then press it over your bracket(s). Keep it on while eating and sleeping and for at least 24 hours after you think you need it.

Good luck with preparing for you bday!
After 5 years, 11 months and two days of stainless steel brackets ... my teeth now have upper and lower bonded, gold wire, retainers and removable clear retainers!

The best kind of wax isn't wax at all. Gishy Goo is the best! My ortho gives it out instead of wax to those who want it. It's in a long tube, and it comes out as a putty type of feel. You roll it in a ball, stick it over the bracket and smooth it with your wet fingertip. It congeals onto the bracket and stays all day and feels like a tooth, not at all like wax! It doesn't flake off or anything. Then when you want to take it off, you just peel it off. It's absolutely AMAZING. I should buy stock in it I've used it so much. Good luck with your search for the right wax, definitely just try everything you can until you find the right kind for you!

Thanks Sunny & Denise for both your advice,

I'm going to look into the Gishy Goo, as i'd heard some similar mentions of this product in recent times.
