Oh jeez, please tell I just heard wrong....

About a week ago I had my ortho appointment and he put singles on the top and god knows what on the bottom, but I heard him say " schedule a 'reverse' something for the lower teeth".

I decided to google it and it looks like headgear. I have an overbite and it's 6mm I think? But come on! really? HEADGEAR?!

Anyone have any guesses? I'm positive i heard reverse but as for the rest....

Please I am really scared here...

Could be a reverse curve wire which would be used to intrude the lower front teeth to help correct a deep bite. When inserted into the molars, the wire goes towards the lip at the front, so that when placed into the incisors, produces an intrusion effect. Unlikely to be headgear as that is generally attached to the upper arch.

When in doubt, call the office. The info should be in your chart, so the receptionist might be able to help you if you don't want to speak to the orthodontist.

    Good luck!

The only ' ... reverse ...' anything used where I work, is the reverse curve archwire ... to do as Dr Jason has explained above.

We don't have any headgear equipment where I work ... which I find positive.

    Good luck with your treatment!
