Overbite-Bottom teeth going to cave in?

My dentist recently told me I should get braces. I'm fifteen, so this is definitely not something I would like. I have a very "deep" overbite that almost completely covers my bottom teeth. Still, it looks fine, and there's no cosmetic issues now. I was told that my top teeth are pushing on the bottoms and possibly someday they will angle back abit more, but who knows how far. I know I'm not a dentist, but when I bite, they barely even touch, so I don't see how it's such an issue. I was wondering if any one has had this problem? And how far they would cave in if I decided not to get braces? Also, is there any alternatives to braces that would help?

KET I recommend you visit and ortho or two or three ... and ask them what they'd recommend for your bite. You don't need to make a commitment to having any type of treatment, but you would have some ideas about what types of treatment are available now and what the outcome of your bite would be if you did or didn't have treatment.

One of the main issues our teeth have, is that they move for as long as we're alive. Mostly the move to the front of our mouth, so this means that for people with overbites, there's a huge chance they'll get a lot worse and chewing food may become an issue.

    Good luck!
After 5 years, 11 months and two days of stainless steel brackets ... my teeth now have upper and lower bonded, gold wire, retainers and removable clear retainers!
