Unhappy My dentist wants to remove teeth and PULL FRONT TEETH FWD???

I am a few months away from my contract being up with my braces, and i have yet to see my overbite change infact it has protruded even more now! I had a tooth in my front top teeth that was all the way back and was the reason i wanted braces to begin with. It did come foward but it still isnt matching up with the other teeh, and my orthodontist is NOW SAYING they are gonna push the 2 front teeth foward to align them? I am so mad, because if ANYTHING this will make it look worse, not to mention shes saying to correct the protruding front teeth she wants to remove 4 teeth! I just dont trust this and am afraid i will look worse. Ive read about people looking strange after pulling teeth out. She then explained that 2 of her other patients did it and their profile looked great and the protuding mouth appearence went away. So today was my appointment and the colored bands were a straight line across my teeth now?? And she said its going to pull the 2 front teeth foward to align the teeth next to it..and then next month she wants me to decide whether i want to pull 4 teeth out to push the protruding gum/teeth back??? Im so confused with her method of trying to make my teeth look better, can anyone shed some light as to what THE HELL SHE IS THINKING? im confused and all i want is my front teeth to be pulled back and the one that was back pulled front...thats IT! Any insight on this would REALLY help to make my decision on what I should do!! Thanks

This all sounds a bit confusing! First ... are you seeing an orthodontist or a dentist? This is important, as the orthdontist has considerably more training in tooth placement than a dentist does.

I highly recommend that before you have any teeth removed, you consult with one or two orthodontist's, just to hear what they would do to correct your overbite. This doesn't mean you have to change your provider, but it may mean you'll choose to, if there are better options.

In some cases it is still necessary to remove teeth to correct some issues ... but four teeth does sound a bit excessive at this stage in your treatment.

    Good luck seeking further advice!
After 5 years, 11 months and two days of stainless steel brackets ... my teeth now have upper and lower bonded, gold wire, retainers and removable clear retainers!

Thats exactly what I figured i would do before my next visit. I was gonna look into talking to other ortho's and ask for their opinion! And yes I go to western dental orthodontics, and I also believe 4 teeth is a bit much especially since my contract is about to be over in december!! Thanks for your advice!

i would be a little wary, before you do any kind of extractions, make sure you get a few opinions. Good Luck!

Obviously get a professional opinion from someone who has all of the diagnostic information, but looking at the pictures, the teeth look proclined, and the lips look like they would be strained upon closure. These could be indications for extraction, even if teeth can be aligned. If you're taking out teeth, it would be 4 to retract the anterior teeth (one in each corner of the mouth).

    Best of luck!
