    A new brace face

    Hi my name is natalia

and ive just gotten braces im wondering if there was a way to get braces off faster i have appoitments every 8 week (which i heard slows down the treatment) but i have the new braces which u cant put decerations on like the coloured rubber bands so maybe thats why.

Im also a dancer and ive heard it canes when u dance and thats why a lot of my friend quit i was wondering if this is the same for everyone and if the pain goes away after a while cause i love dancing but i cant take the pain.

Or else ill proberly get my braces removed with in 2 month cause i want to dance and its really unfair towards me since i only have 1 crocked tooth from being hit in the mouth and a slight over bite

Hi and welcome to this forum Natalia!

There's only one way to help your treatment to go as fast as possible, and that's to do what your ortho tells you to do.

Time between appointments does not affect progress. With modern archwires, they can continue moving teeth for many months ... until such time as your teeth are in the same shape as the archwire was, when it was put in your mouth. Our ortho's will often check on how our teeth are progressing and make adjustments as needed, but the timing for this varies and often isn't needed for much longer than what our appointments are.

The type of brackets you have will not affect your progress, as brackets can't move teeth. You need an archwire and a skilled orthodontist to achieve that!

There is no reason for there to be pain while you're dancing or taking part in any general activities. Many elite athletes have/had braces and it's never affected their ability to achieve at the top of their chosen sport.

If you have discomfort, which for most people is minor and doesn't last long, you need to be pro-active and make sure you're taking great care of your mouth. Keep your hydration levels high, use wax generously if brackets are rubbing and if you really need to, take some 'over the counter' pain meds.

    Good luck with your treatment!
After 5 years, 11 months and two days of stainless steel brackets ... my teeth now have upper and lower bonded, gold wire, retainers and removable clear retainers!
