How to deal with an a** ortho :-(

    Hi,
Got my braces 9 months ago. Live in San Diego and before i went with this ortho i did seek with few others but picked him (mistake). Anyways, he's soooo bad, so cold and never communicates with him. I went to see my general dentist which BTW is a fantastic dentist and told him about my experience how bad it is he called the ortho and talked to how unhappy I was. When I went to see my ortho he wasn’t happy of course so here is what he was telling me. He said “LIVE WITH GAPS in between your teeth”  like Really live with it??? And I shouldn’t expect too much cuz I am not going to have a 13 year old’s teeth. WOW – he wouldn’t shut up and just talked and talked. I almost cried. So, I’m so pissed and not sure what to do. I was scheduled to get my braces off next Friday, but told him “how can you even when my teeth are not even ready”? Shouldn’t he suggest and tell me what’s good and bad and what needs to be done and how long more?????

Sonyg I feel your only choice is to consult elsewhere and find out what it will cost to have your treatment finished.

From what you've written, it sounds like you won't be able to develop a relationship with your current ortho, which will have respect on both sides ... so cut your losses and be prepared to pay someone else.

    Good luck!
After 5 years, 11 months and two days of stainless steel brackets ... my teeth now have upper and lower bonded, gold wire, retainers and removable clear retainers!

    Hi sonyg,

I have to agree with Sunny!

Cut and run too get another one or two consults! Don't let your present Ortho remove your braces if you are not yet happy with the results.

    Best of Luck!

How awful! I agree with everyone else - don't let this ortho remove the braces if you are not ready yet. Otherwise you may need them again in the future

I'm sorry you're having such a tough time *hug*

I had my upper braces on for 17 months, 1 week and 2 days.
The bottoms were on for 13 months and 3 days
