    Can anyone chime in...

    Hey guys,
Two days ago I went in to change my wires and also change into power chains. Well I guess the ortho told the ortho technician to put on some hooks and elastics. Well to begin with my midline is slightly off... the top is about 2 mm to the left, and the bottom is about 2mm to the right. Does anybody know what type of movement these ligatures will cause... will it correct my midline issue? don’t I need one on my left side also. My right ligature goes from that tooth to my second molar... also my top teeth cover about half of the 4 front teeth, so I think i also have a slight overbite... here is a picture.

The reason im asking this is because the tech almost forgot that I needed the elastics on right side. I also asked how long I should wear it... He said probably all day, the ortho already left for the day so i couldnt ask him personally what type of movement is this going to cause and do I need anything on the left side.

Sounds like a busy office, wear the techs are rushing to get people out of there eh?

Anyhow, you look good and with that rubber band up top, you should start to see an improvement in your midline. I had the same thing and the midline moved rather quickly.

It looks like the plan is to move your top to the right and lowers to the left.

At this stage you may not need an elastic on the left, as elastics are often varied frequently during treatment. All day movement is usually the best ... but make sure you get to ask your ortho at your next appointment.

    Good luck!
