Moving to the right... Plus a concern.

I have an overbite and had 2 teeth removed and am having my front teeth pulled back.

For some reason the right side is moving a lot faster than the left, my canine is pretty much in place on the right but is still pretty far on the left. In addition to that my front 4 teeth are shifting to the right as well!! I am extremely worried about this, I do not want to have my teeth off center.

    Is this normal?

I will definitely bring it up at my next appointment. I'm just so worried because every single appointment they ignore my questions and concerns, and when I TOLD the woman I felt ignored she laughed at me. I'm struggling with standing up for my self and I'm really trying but I don't know what to do about this. I don't know how hard it would be to find a new ortho in my area, or how to transfer the payments or any of that. I don't even know who I should make a complaint to, frankly I'm scared of my ortho(he's said some pretty creepy things to me.) He seems to be the "head guy" and I'm too afraid to talk to him, especially in a room alone or something.

I certainly don't want to pay so much money to be ignored, laughed at, made uncomfortable AND have teeth that look as bad or worse than when I started!

rmcs please continue to stand up for yourself and don't leave your ortho until your questions are answered. You need to show and be shown respect and you need to feel valued!

It's definitely quite usual for teeth on one side to move faster than another. Often it's the side we chew on that moves the quickest, as chewing is good fo movement. This will mean that teeth move that way for a while, but eventually everything will be pulled back into alignment, as the gap on the other side is closed. If your teeth started centred, they should finish that way. A slight movement to the right or left will not be of concern, but you should find that it's minimal.

If you feel you need to change ortho's, remember it will cost ... but if it makes this experience a better one, then you many need to consider that. You could always make an appointment with one, two or three more ortho's and find out how much they charge for transfers.

Good luck ... and don't allow yourself to be ignored ... be assertive ... and make sure you're not aggressive!
After 5 years, 11 months and two days of stainless steel brackets ... my teeth now have upper and lower bonded, gold wire, retainers and removable clear retainers!
