what is involved with Sure Smile scan?

My son, 17, is having a Sure Smile scan in about 8 weeks. What is involved in this procedure? He's had his braces on for a few months, so now we're ready to do the scan. The appointment is for 1 1/2 hours, but I'm wondering if it's just basically "be very still while we take these pictures of your teeth" or is there anything that could cause pain? I'm trying to work around high school soccer games, so I don't want to have this appointment at 3:00 in the afternoon if he's going to be in pain for a game that night. Thanks. This is my first post and I just found this forum. He is also having orthognathic surgery in June, so I'm jumping over to that forum next!

this scan will record the tooth and bracket location.. the ortho needs to do this as you prep for the surgery...

I am seeing more and more offices have this now as it is relatively new technology and it supposely helps reduce treatment time...

No pain associated with it.. its just an xray...

Thanks, Stephanie. His appointment for the scan is Feb. 26; we're shooting for the orthognathic surgery (in the other thread, which you have also answered my question ) in very early June.
