    some problems but no biggy

    hey all,
Its been quite some time since i've last been here. Hope you all had a great christmas and a happy new year!
I have been quite busy for the past few weeks since my exams are startign again, tomorrow is my first! :S
Well this is why im posting this now, i dont want to stress while i have enough to stress about. the amazing news is that i can notice some visible improvement in my top teeth, the small gap ( small but visible) has almost completely closed up. Other gaps do appear slightly smaller, but this small gap made the most visible changes. I am soo Happy!!
I also have some of the wire coming out of the right side of my mouth (is it okay that its only the right side? the left theres no poking or any excess wires what so ever) although painful i dont mind it, it just shows me the progress that im proud of! and since im so busy with the exams i dont have time to go to my ortho, so im just letting it be for the time being till my next appointment ;D

Well here's my slight problem.. remember on my previous thread, i said that i got braces for my bottom jaw even though i dont even need them (just one slightly gapped tooth that cannot even be noticed) all my bottom teeth were near perfect, I loved them. Well when the treatment started i noticed that my bottom teeth (incisors in particular) were getting closer to one another (they were close to begin with) it was a bit harder to get the floss between my teeth. But thats not a problem, teeth being very close is a good thing (only in the case of crowding it isn't) well a few days ago i noticed my teeth are no longer so close and i can floss normally again, as i was flossing, i noticed IT.
A gap i dont remember ever having (maybe i did but i didnt notice it?)remember that old bottom tooth small gap (it was beetween my second incisor to the right and first incisor to the right) now the gap is slightly bigger (you may not notice it but i can) and now theres another gap, between the same second incisor and the right canine.. it now looks like the tooth is standing alone [if you get what i mean.. it is kind of annoying]
Is it possible that the teeth shifted away even though they didnt need anything done? I dont think my ortho is going to notice it much because its on a certain angle but i can notice it and it gets on my nerves.

    Thank You

Hi Newbie and good luck with your exams!

The right side may have moved in a different way to the left. This may be meant to be, but if it's not, I'm sure it won't take your ortho long to sort it out. If the wire is poking, put plenty of wax on it ... it will probably come off easily, so carry the wax with you and keep putting it on ... as you don't want a mouth sore in the area it's poking.

Your teeth may have looked perfect to you, but with the archwire on them, they may have been forced to move to the perfect arch that it is. This may mean that they have 'rounded' more to the arch and now there's more space to fill in. Your ortho can easily sort these spaces out, so please don't worry about them.

Talk to your ortho about this ... don't wait for him to notice it. It's important that you're honest with your ortho about how you're feeling.

Good luck at your next appointment!
After 5 years, 11 months and two days of stainless steel brackets ... my teeth now have upper and lower bonded, gold wire, retainers and removable clear retainers!

Oops.. i think is just swallowed the wax o.0

Thanks Sunny for the reply! I feel great that that i can already see improvement with my teeth. I personally would've liked the left side to improve faster than the right (since the gaps on the left are more than triple the size of the gaps on the right) but everytime i feel the extra wire on the right i feel happy again,, can wait for the other side to poke my mouth ;P (is it possible that sometimes the wire feels smaller than the day before? must be just me ;P)

No worries, i wont be quiet about the lower gap! but is it okay that my bite no longer feels as good as it used to? i mean before my bite was 'perfect' according to my ortho. but now it feels a bit off (my bottom jaw feels a bit smaller, so the left side cant fully bite down while im biting on my right side.. does this make any sense?) well to simplify, when i try to check my once-perfect-bite i bite down, but when i bite down my right side touches perfectly but my left side is off. but im guessing its because of movement.. i heard things like that could happen but i didnt think it would happen so fast?
    Any thoughts?

While your teeth are moving, your bite will rarely feel good ... as that phase of treatment is at near the end.

It's great that you can see and feel so many changes so quickly! Good luck with the rest of your treatment!
