    Bite Ramps/Turbos

Hello again. I have another question about my newly acquired braces. I have two bite ramps, on my front top two teeth. They felt OK at first but now it seems like I have to strain to get my bottom two teeth to rest correctly on the ramps. I find that I'm pushing my lower jaw back in order to get the bottom teeth to rest on the ramps. This seems counter-productive as I'm trying to correct a severe overbite.

As a result, my bottom teeth are sore and my jaw feels stretched. Because of this, I find that I'm more comfortable resting my ramps on my tongue and not closing down my teeth the whole way. Twice tonight, I have accidentally closed my mouth and bit down on my bottom braces. Is this normal or are my bite ramps in the wrong place? I scheduled an appointment with my ortho but I can't get in until Monday. Just wondering what everyone else thought.

Sounds like you need to give your ortho a call to talk to him asap and describe what's happening. Neither feeling like you're straining your jaw, nor resting your your teeth on your tongue is good ... so something may need to be changed. Or ... this may mean that things are working fine and you're on your way to this all being corrected. ... definitely something for your expert to decide.

    Good luck getting this clarified!

Thanks, Sunny. Unfortunately, my work schedule didn't permit me to get to the ortho on Thursday and their office is closed Fridays. I'm going to go in tomorrow. I'm looking forward to having the time just to get my questions answered.
