The principle behind this is that orthodontic tooth movement involves an inflammatory process to remove bone where the tooth is supposed to move. While Acetaminophen (Tylenol) and Ibuprofen (Advil, Motrin) are both analgesics, Ibuprofen is an anti-inflammatory and can therefore theoretically slow down the movement of teeth. Keep in mind that most studies have been in animal models.
I'm sorry I don't have any information on how much it can slow movement.
